Why are tanks decommissioned?

All tanks that are no longer in use pose a danger to the environment or their surroundings.

Why is rigid foam the best solution for tank filling?

Our rigid foam has the following important properties for safe decommissioning:

Fuel leaks
Soil contamination
Fire/explosion hazard due to:

Flammable liquids
Explosive gases

Even after proffesional cleaning and dissmataling, there is still minimal  risk of gas build-up. For this reason, tanks need to be removed or refilled.

A complete filling prevents the build-up of dangerous gases;


Hydrocarbon absorption, which prevents (further) soil contamination;


Lightweight (to facilitate subsequent removal of the tank);


Strong foam (with the ability to keep the structure stable even after tank decomposition);


An inert and environmentally friendly product.

Why is removal not always the best option?

Removing a tank requires closing off the entire area and puts a lot of pressure on the surrounding ground. Soil can be deposited through the newly filled part after closing the hole created. Filling with rigid foam can be done without excavation. Our working method allows daily activities to continue without interruption.

Any unfilled void in a tank poses a risk of flammable gas build-up. To prevent this, we fill the tank completely. Due to the hygroscopic effect of the foam, it will absorb the remaining hydrocarbons. This prevents (further) soil contamination from occurring.

For many filling products, the tank will need to be removed in parts. Due to the light weight of our rigid foam, the tank is often easy to remove in its entirety.
Due to the resilience of the foam, the structure remains strong and stable even when the tank loses strength. This depends on the density chosen.
